Forehead "Brow" Lift
As the face ages, portions of the eyebrow line descend from the youthful arcing position relative to the bony supra-orbital rim, and assumes a more aged position at or below the rim. The descent of the brow also changes the position of the eyelid relative to the eyeball.
It’s interesting to look through older fashion magazine photographs and note how the “ideal” female eyebrow position has, like fashion itself, changed with the times. It may be encouraging to note that the less-than-ideal brow position at the orbital rim has become more acceptable for women in recent years. However, there are stigmata of facial aging in the forehead region besides the descent of the brow. You might have noticed fixed wrinkles crossing your forehead, and vertical lines rising between your eyebrows above your nose.
These problems with eyebrow position and fixed wrinkles can be addressed with a brow-lift. This surgery repositions the skin and soft tissue that have descended down the forehead bone and create the appearance of age. The procedure can be done using small incisions behind the hairline. The position of the incisions and the technique used to lift the eyebrows depends on which portion of the brow is in poor position and the status of wrinkles along the forehead.
Dr. Sattler has experience with the Endo-Brow technique, open brow lift and temporal brow lift techniques. He will discuss the benefits and limitations of these techniques, and help you understand which technique is best for your individual facial anatomy. He will also help you decide if you need eyelid surgery in combination with a brow lift.
