Breast Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is an operation that is that designed to reduce the amount of excess breast skin, preserve the existing breast volume, and reposition the nipple into a more aesthetically desirable position. It addresses the common complaint of breast sagging or drooping that women develop with age, significant weight loss, and in the postpartum period of their lives.

A breast lift can be combined with a breast augmentation, and the decision to do this combined procedure (augmentation-mastopexy) is based on several safety factors. These safety factors include prior breast surgery, the amount of breast lifting that needs to be done, and the size of implant that you are interested in. In general, breast lifts are not done for patients that are active smokers. If you plan on a future pregnancy, its wise to delay your breast lift until after your last pregnancy.
